William A. Wheeler, 79, a former 24th Street resident, who moved to Cleveland last month, died Saturday (July 26, 1997) in Western Reserve Hospice, Cleveland.
Wheeler was born in Youngstown and was a World War II veteran of the Navy Seabees.
After the war, he took a job as a rigger at the former Hooker Chemical Corp., retiring in 1983 after 34 years of employment. He was a member of the Hooker Retirees Club.
His wife, Lillian, died in 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia A. Smith of Cleveland; a brother, Hank of California; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 339 22nd St., after prayers at 8:45 in Otto Redanz Funeral Home LaSalle Park Chapel, 2215 Military Road, Town of Niagara. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston.
