Akron Central School District residents will return to the polls Aug. 5 to vote on propositions that would fund athletics and extracurricular activities. Approval of both measures would add $88,337 to a contingency spending plan of $15,623,811. After residents defeated a proposed 1997-98 budget of $15,924,241 on May 20, the board appointed a subcommittee to explore economies and approved nearly $300,000 in cuts.
Residents, however, petitioned the board July 2 to put athletics and extracurricular spending back on the ballot.
Voting will be held from noon to 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
