Swimming at Woodlawn Beach has been suspended until further notice, state officials announced Saturday.
The water must get a clean bill of health for two consecutive days before swimming will be allowed again. The beach, off Route 5 across from the Ford Stamping Plant in Hamburg, still is open to sunbathing, picnicking, volleyball and playground activities.
It normally is open from 11 a.m to 7 p.m. through Labor Day, with a $5 entrance fee for cars. The vehicle entry fee is lowered to $4 when swimming is suspended.
Swimming has been on again, off again this summer as a result of poor water-quality attributed to heavy rainfall.
