A marijuana-growing operation was put out of business and four people were arrested late Friday during a raid at a home at 3654 Buck Road in the Town of Warsaw, police said.

Two would-be customers who police said called to arrange a drug purchase while officers were there also were charged.

A sophisticated watering and lighting system was found in a secret room at the rear of a garage, and more than 30 marijuana plants were seized during the raid, police said.

Charged with possession of marijuana were Gerald I. Smith, 32; his brother, John N. Smith, 29; John's wife, Beverly A. Smith, 39; and Robert K. Ziegler, no age available, all of the Buck Road address.

Matthew J. Crawford, 22, of 164 North Maple St., Warsaw, and David Hendrickson, 21, of 2561 Kingston Road, Leicester, were charged with attempted possession of marijuana after police said they called to arrange a purchase and were told to stop by.

Participating in the raid were members of the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, Wyoming County sheriff's deputies, the Genesee County Drug Task Force and the Warsaw Police Department.
