Two Buffalo-area boys were injured Friday afternoon when they fell approximately 50 feet while on a swimming outing at Zoar Valley, officials said.
Authorities were notified at about 2 p.m., and rescue personnel had to hike about 2 1/2 miles upriver to reach the youths, who were in an area known as The Falls, according to Helmuth Fire Control.
The injured youths, ages 12 and 13, were in the company of one of their mothers and a sister, a dispatcher said.
The more seriously injured youth suffered apparent hip and leg injuries, as well as fractures to his face, the dispatcher said. The other youth suffered facial cuts and knee injuries.
Both youths were taken by Mercy Flight to Children's Hospital. Their names and conditions were not available.
