John K. Summerson, 91, formerly of 72nd Street, died Thursday (July 24, 1997) in St. Mary's Manor Nursing Home after a short illness.
Summerson was born in Hicks Run, Pa., and attended school there. He graduated from the Ithaca Conservatory of Music in 1928.
He and his wife, Dorothy M., moved to Niagara Falls in 1947. Summerson worked as an assembly worker at the former Bell Aircraft Corp. for 20 years.
He was a former director of the Niagara Active Hose Company Marching Band. Besides his wife of 63 years, Summerson is survived by a son, John B.; a daughter, Terry P. Grolemund of Munroe Falls, Ohio; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Monday in Lane Funeral Home, 8622 Buffalo Ave.
