Harvey E. Gingher, 68, of Cheektowaga, a retired truck driver who drove more than one million miles without an accident, died Thursday (July 24, 1997) in St. Joseph's Hospital in Cheektowaga.
Born in Rockford, Ill., he came to the Buffalo area as an infant and graduated from McKinley High School.
He served in the Army from 1946 to 1949 in Salzburg, Austria, where he was in charge of the motor pool.
He was a truck driver for Snyder Tank Co. for many years, and from 1985 to 1989, he worked for Greyhound Package Delivery. He then worked for Arcata Graphics, retiring in 1992.
Gingher enjoyed woodworking and camping, was an avid reader and loved animals.
Survivors include his companion, Mary L. Neuner; two daughters, Beverly Bauer of the Town of Boston and Melissa Wojynski of West Seneca; one stepson, Ralph Palmer of Hamburg; three brothers, James M. of Lakeview, David B. of Grand Island and Alan W. of Farmington, N.Y.; one sister, Dorine Trautman of Wayland; and three grandchildren.
Services will be private.
