BRITISH WOMAN CHARGED IN ELOPEMENT TRY WITH BOY

A British woman has been charged with "lewd and lascivious behavior" after she was caught with her neighbor's 14-year-old son in an apparent elopement from England to the Florida Keys, police said Friday.

Tracey Lee Whalin, 33, from Nottingham, was charged in a Monroe County court Thursday.

When police knocked on the door of a condominium in Tavernier in the Keys, 14-year-old Sean Kinsella opened up and said: "She's not decent right now."

Sean is the best friend of Ms. Whalin's son, Ross. British police had been seeking the couple since Whalin allegedly left her husband, took $5,000 out of the bank and drove off with Sean under the pretense of taking him to school.

They are believed to have flown to Orlando and visited Disney World before taking a bus to the Keys, police said.

Authorities say Sean said the couple were romantically involved but refused to say if they had a physical relationship.

Ms. Whelan is in custody pending bail of $175,000. She will appear in court again Aug. 12.
