The third annual Roots, Rocks & Ridges race will send up to 200 mountain bike competitors careening over a 25-mile course Sunday to raise money for the Ellicottville/Great Valley Ambulance Service.

The event kicks off at noon at the center of Ellicottville, sending riders south on Route 219 and then to scale and descend nearby slopes of two ski areas and forested state lands.

The finish line is at the Town Hall, Washington and Jefferson streets.

Registration at the Gazebo begins at 9:30 a.m. and includes a $20 registration fee and free shirts for the first 200 racers. Registrants must be licensed by the National Off Road Bicycle Association for insurance purposes. For information call 699-2345 or 699-8300.
