SCHOOL DISTRICT LAWYERS GIVEN RAISES IN FALLS

Michael A. Gold, the school district's attorney, and William D. Berard III, assistant attorney, have received 1.5 percent raises, bringing Gold's salary to $75,596 and Berard's to $37,798.

The raises are retroactive to July 1. Both Gold and Berard are former board members. They have held these positions since July 1993 when Richard C. Doherty, also a former board member, resigned after 26 years as the board's lawyer. Berard resigned from the board to become assistant attorney. Gold had been assistant attorney for nine years, preceded by nine years as a board member. Their contract with the district provides for their automatic reappointment each year unless the board takes other action.
