A 29-year-old man knocked to the ground by a single punch hit his head on a curb and died Thursday afternoon, Homicide Bureau detectives said.
Matthew Drzymala of Seneca Street was pronounced dead at Sheehan Emergency Hospital. The man who decked him reportedly tried to revive him after seeing the victim turning blue, but it was too late.
Eric G. Bridenbaker, 19, of Van Rensselaer Street was charged with manslaughter,
according to arrest reports.
The confrontation occurred at about 3 p.m. outside a house in the 200 block of Smith Street. "There was an altercation," said Capt. Joseph Riga, Homicide Bureau chief. "(The victim) hit his head on the curb."
Residents of the Valley said they heard the argument had something to do with a woman and that it had been brewing during the past couple of days.
