A memorial service for Genevieve M. Frey, 81, a retired operations clerk for Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. and a dedicated volunteer, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2669 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda. Interment was in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
She died June 29, 1997, at Weinberg Campus, Getzville.
The former Genevieve Kopec, a Buffalo native, worked in Niagara Mohawk's Dewey Avenue office in Buffalo for 24 years, retiring in 1980.
She served more than 10,000 hours as a volunteer at Millard Fillmore Hospital and was a member of its Women's Board. She also volunteered at Kleinhans Music Hall, Shea's Performing Arts Center and the Lutheran Church Home.
She was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was an officer of the Lutheran Church Women.
Surviving are two sons, Peter of Naperville, Ill., and John of Rochester Hills, Mich.; a daughter, Elizabeth Alverson of North Tonawanda; two brothers, Andrew Kopec of Clarence and Stanley Kopec of North Tonawanda; four sisters, Mary Peer of Williamsville, Victoria Biro of Akron and Ann Rindfleisch and Martha Hojnacki, both of Eggertsville; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
