THEATER NOTES

Award-winning comedian/social commentator George Carlin will perform at Artpark at 8 p.m. Sunday. Artpark is located at 150 S. Fourth St., Lewiston.

"Always . . . Patsy Cline," a musical based on one fan's friendship with the legendary singer, opens at 2 and 8 p.m. today at Artpark, 150 S. Fourth St., Lewiston. Performances will continue at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Tuesday, at 2 p.m. Sunday, plus 2 and 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Vintage performers Don Rickles and Debbie Reynolds will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday at Melody Fair Theatre, Wurlitzer Park, North Tonawanda.

"As You Like It," a romantic comedy by William Shakespeare, will be performed by the Chautauqua Conservatory Theatre at 2:15 p.m. Friday and at 2:15 and 8 p.m. Saturday at Normal Hall, Chautauqua Institution, Route 394 on Chautauqua Lake.

Gallagher, a physical comedian, will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at Melody Fair Theatre, Wurlitzer Park, North Tonawanda.

Comedian and actor Thomas Wilson (Biff from "Back to the Future") will perform with Mark Gross and Tony Diamond at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Funnybone Comedy Club, Boulevard Mall, Amherst.

"Vampire Lesbians of Sodom," a campy farce about vampires presented by Theatre Above, previews at 7:30 tonight and Friday above Mr. Goodbar, 1110 Elmwood Ave. The show opens at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and performances will continue at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to Sunday, through Aug. 10.

"Voices in the Rain," a one-man play written by and starring Michael Keck, has been canceled. The performance was scheduled to open Friday at the Flexible Theatre.

"Bye Bye Birdie," a musical presented by the Niagara Summer Fine Arts Program, opens at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at LaSalle Senior High School, 1500 Military Road, Niagara Falls.

"Hello Dolly!," a musical based on "The Matchmaker" by Thornton Wilder, presented by Broadway at Sem!, opens at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 3 and 7 p.m. Sunday at the Buffalo Seminary, 205 Bidwell Parkway.

The Studio Arena Theatre School will present several student productions/performances at various locations, including: "Are We Alone? Tales From Your Imagination," for 8- and 9-year-olds, at 4 this afternoon, at noon and 3:30 p.m. Friday and at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Studio Arena Theater, 710 Main St. (sixth floor).

"Wiley and the Hairy Man," for 10- and 11-year-olds, will be presented at 4 this afternoon, at noon and 3:30 p.m. Friday and at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Pfeifer Theatre, 681 Main St. Also, "Half-Pint Windom Rides West," for 12- and 13-year-olds, will be presented at 7:30 tonight and Friday, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pfeifer Theatre.

"The Enchanted Maze," for 14-to-18-year-olds, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, plus at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 1 to 3 at the Studio Arena Theater.
