Sounds of Summer
Birds chirp and sing each morning

To help us greet the day,

And now we hear childrens' voices

Eager to begin their play.

A lawn mower hums -- there's a job to be done

Before the heat of the summer's warming sun --

The sound of water splashes in a backyard pool

Children learning how to swim and how to keep cool

We hear sounds of music from a car passing by

And the neighbors' cheerful voices

As they wave a "Good Bye"

The sound of thunder that signals a much-needed rain

And far in the distance the faint sound of a train.

Sounds of summer could be blended into a pleasant song

Sounds we then could enjoy -- all winter long!

These sounds of summer, Oh let them linger on

For we know so well -- too soon they will be gone!
