Florence D. Lewis, 89, of Pound Street, a retired registered nurse at Lockport Memorial Hospital, died Tuesday (July 22, 1997) in the hospital after a brief illness.
A native of London, Ont., the former Florence Herbert graduated from the former Meyer Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Buffalo. She retired from the Lockport hospital in 1972.
She was a member of the alumnae association of the nursing school and enjoyed working with arts and crafts.
She was the widow of Charles Lewis.
Surviving are four sons, Dr. Richard of Pittsburgh, Robert of Alden, George H. Dimmock of Clarence Center, and James Dimmock of Lockport; two stepsons, John Lewis of Kenmore and Charles Lewis of Clarence; two stepdaughters, Jane Varney of Orchard Park and Mary Rumsey of Kansas; a sister, Winifred Leigh of London, Ont.; 27 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
