DUMPING OF DEAD ANIMALS AT CHURCH SPURS PROBE

Nassau County police are investigating a possible bias incident involving animal carcasses left at a Franklin Square church.

The Rev. Guy Perrodin found the carcasses of three chickens and two rabbits, wrapped in a plastic bag and inside a red plastic box, dumped on the steps of the Hillside Baptist Church Sunday.

When police were called at 8 a.m., they first thought the box was a bomb and evacuated nearby houses.

Instead, they found the box contained a New Testament, a car battery, a metal cooking pot and crystal ball wrapped in electrical tape.

"My only thought is that it quite possibly had to be some cult, some satanic cult," Mr. Perrodin told Newsday in Wednesday's editions.
