CLUES SOUGHT IN TATAR SLAYING

Police continue to look to the public for clues in the shooting death last Friday of Ashford businessman Kenneth L. Tatar.

Tatar, 27, who helped run the family-owned business, World of Wheels Skate Park, was killed while watching television in the living room of the home he shared with his parents, Shirley and Andrew Tatar, along Route 219, south of Springville.

In the meantime, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department and members of the State Police Violent Crime Investigation Unit Wednesday moved their command post for the investigation from the West Valley Fire Hall on Route 219 to a former Town of Ashford office on Fox Valley Road.

Officers searched the area surrounding the Tatar home and found several items that have been submitted to the State Police Forensic Laboratory in Albany for analysis.

"Right now we are just doing paperwork and interviews," said Lt. Dennis John of the Sheriff's Department. "Each lead we follow takes us to more information."

Police are urging anyone with information to contact them at 938-9191 or 1-800-443-3403.
