Carole Sue Kmidowski, 25, of Olean, formerly of West Seneca, died last Thursday (July 17, 1997) in Girona, Spain, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She and her husband, Mark, had been vacationing at a farmhouse in the Pyrenees after visiting her brother in Barcelona.
Born Carole Sue MacPeek in Buffalo, she was a 1990 graduate of Mount Mercy Academy. She worked as a professional hair stylist at JL Hair Design in West Seneca while earning a degree from Buffalo State College in elementary education with a mathematics major.
She moved last December to Olean, where her husband had taken a position teaching English at Olean High School. She was to have joined her sister this month in starting Playgroup, a preschool for toddlers at St. John's School in Olean.
She worked out regularly at the YMCA in Olean and enjoyed gardening, reading, writing and traveling. She loved music and was an avid fan of 10,000 Maniacs, Cowboy Junkies and Lance Diamond. She would have celebrated her fourth wedding anniversary Aug. 21.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her parents, Charles "Ed" and Joanne MacPeek of West Seneca; three brothers, Charles "Rusty" MacPeek Jr. of West Seneca, John MacPeek of Barcelona, Spain, and Joseph MacPeek of Williamsville; a sister, June Fish of Franklinville; and her grandmother, Lucille MacPeek of Hamburg.
A Mass of Resurrection will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4928 Seneca St., West Seneca.
