Talks on sharing services are continuing between the Village of Brocton and Town of Portland.

Officials from both municipalities met Monday in Portland Town Hall to begin addressing specifics.

One proposal raised by Brocton Trustee Mark Snyder would reduce the water rates for districts 1 and 3 in Portland. Rates would decrease by 15 cents per 1,000 gallons.

In turn, the Village of Brocton would have 290 acres of its watershed property removed from Portland's tax rolls. This measure would result in a savings of $1,986 per year for the village.
