ORCHARD PARK EXPLOSION BRINGS POWER OUTAGES

A transformer explosion Tuesday night in the Village of Orchard Park resulted in isolated power outages, police said.

The explosion occurred on a utility pole in front of 101 Highland Ave. and was reported shortly before 8:30 p.m., police said. No injuries were
reported.

Live wires fell to the ground, and firefighters cordoned off Highland Avenue, between South Buffalo Street and Freeman Road. No more than 100 homes in the immediate area were affected by the power
outage, police estimated.

Crews from the New York State Electric & Gas Co. were making repairs late Tuesday.
