KENMORE VILLAGE BOARD HIRES POLICE OFFICER

The Kenmore Village Board has approved hiring another police officer.

In a special session Tuesday, the board voted unanimously to hire Timothy Phillips, 29, whose brother already is an officer with the Kenmore Police Department, Village Clerk Paul Pfeiffer said. Phillips' starting salary will be $35,060. Pfeiffer said the board called Tuesday's meeting, rather than wait for the next regular meeting, so that Phillips could be on the payroll in time to enter the next session of the training academy.

Now a corrections officer at the Collins State Correctional Facility, Philips as required by law, was among the top three scorers on the village Civil Service test, Pfieffer said.

Also Tuesday, Thomas Agro, a part-time employee of the Town of Tonawanda, was hired as a part-time laborer at $7.75 an hour. Pfeiffer said he was hired because he is willing to be flexible with hours and comes highly recommended from the town.
