A lifetime suspension that prevents sprinter Ben Johnson from competing should be lifted because it also prevents him from earning a living, an Ontario court was told.
The athlete's lawyers told Justice Moira Caswell of Ontario Court's general division the ban is excessive. It was imposed on the former Olympian after he twice tested positive for steroid use.
"A lifetime ban is harsh," lawyer Axy Leighl said.
A decision is expected Friday.
