AMHERST TOWN COURT GETS $188,404 TO FIGHT DRUGS

Amherst is one of three municipalities in the state to receive funding from the U.S. Justice Department under the Drug Court Grant Program, Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, D-N.Y., announced Monday. The others are in Ithaca and Suffolk County.

Amherst Town Court will receive $188,404 to start new drug-rehabilitation programs, including counseling, drug treatment and mental health services.

The town also will hire and train a court liaison and a clerk to assist the liaison.
