Two masked burglars held a gun to a baby sitter's head, hid in a bedroom and later opened fire on a Baynes Street resident and a friend when they returned home Monday night, Downtown District police said.
The friend was struck in the back of the head but suffered only minor bleeding, according to police.
The two burglars, who entered the Baynes Street home through an unlocked door, threatened to kill the 20-year-old baby sitter and asked where the "fat man" was. After hiding in the bedroom, they opened fire with either a small-caliber handgun or a BB gun, police said.
The assailants fled east on Breckenridge Street in a silver Audi.
