Two burglars fled empty-handed early Sunday morning after a Michigan Avenue woman struck one of them with her lamp.
One of them was then quickly arrested.
Central District officers said the woman was awakened shortly after midnight as burglars removed a screen from the window of her home in the 1300 block of Michigan. After she opened the window to check out the noise, one of the burglars grabbed her by the shirt and pulled himself inside.
The man, who told the woman he had a gun, was struck with a lamp, and both men fled.
A few minutes later, John D. Williams, 16, of 497 E. Utica St. was arrested at Michigan and Riley Street after the woman identified him, police said. He was charged with felony burglary.
