OVERHEARD CONVERSATION HELPS NET TWO IN CAR THEFT

A careless conversation in a doughnut shop over the weekend led to the arrest of a young couple on charges of stealing a car and setting fire to it.

Arrested at Dickie's Donuts, 2172 South Park Ave., were Kenna Skinner, 21, of 86 Amber St. and a 15-year-old girl.

South District officers said a 1986 Oldsmobile Sierra had been reported stolen from a Coolidge Road home Friday.

"Case cracked when a witness at a doughnut shop overheard that the pair had just torched their steal," officers wrote in their report.

The two face charges including arson, criminal mischief, possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
