GAMBLING SQUABBLE LEADS TO SHOOTING

Gambling didn't pay off for a Roebling Avenue man Sunday afternoon.

William Yelder, 26, of 18 Roebling told Northeast District officers that he and three other men were gambling in a yard at 1458 E. Delavan Ave. at about 4 p.m. when things got out of hand.

One of the men, about 19 years old, demanded his money back, and a struggle followed.

"Shoot him," said one of the others, and the man who wanted his money back pulled out a silver handgun from his waistband and fired, striking Yelder in the right leg.

The three fled on East Delavan on bicycles.

Yelder was treated in Erie County Medical Center and released.
