BODY OF NEW YORK YOUTH RECOVERED FROM VERMONT WATERS

Police removed the body of a New York teen-ager from the waters of the Huntington Gorge Sunday.

The body of drowning victim Michael Movermen, 16, of Merrick had washed downstream about a quarter of a mile from where it had been trapped underwater since Tuesday, police said.

Michael died Tuesday after he and several other other students were caught in the current of the rain-swollen river. His body became trapped underwater, and several attempts to free him failed.

He was in Vermont as part of a Musiker Discovery Program based in Roslyn, L.I. He and 12 others were staying in University of Vermont housing.
