Four Western New York figure skating clubs will send a total of 50 skaters to the North Atlantic Figure Skating Championships Wednesday through Saturday in Lake Placid. Winners of the qualifying regional competition will advance to the Eastern Championships in Hicksville, Dec. 4-9. Winners there can advance to the U.S. championships Feb. 8-16 in Nashville and the Junior Olympic championships, April 19-23 in Culver City, Calif.

Competitors, all in the ladies divisions unless otherwise noted, are:

Amherst Skating Club: Cheryl Gozdecki (senior free skate); Jessica Vieth (junior free skate and figures); Jillian Raskin (novice free); Lindsay Bloom, Heather Murray, Ryan Kerr, Leslie Milk (intermediate free); Morgan Montgomery (juvenile figures); Amy Lipman, Sarah Lock, Miyoko Ohtake (juvenile figures and free); Therese Kurtz, Lindsey Oswald (juvenile free); Katie Burke (open juvenile free) and Evan Holenski (open juvenile men's free).

Buffalo Skating Club: Cindy Lehmann, Melissa Polec, Katie Rizzo (intermediate free); Jessica Berg, Angela Muir (open juvenile free); Rana Beg, Chelsee Cwalina and Karen Hutzler (juvenile free).

Jamestown Figure Skating Club: Elizabeth Handley (senior figures and free); Erin Durner (senior free); Angela DePinto, Kristen Treni (junior free); Trey Ehre, Patrick McCarthy (novice men's free); Kristen Columbare, Lindsey Moore, Erica Vance (novice free); Julia Glovack, Patrick McCarthy (novice pairs); Emily Morgan, Justin Cogley (novice pairs); Lindsay Rae Erickson, Hillary Glovack, Daphne Johnson (intermediate free); Leah Limano (open juvenile free); Janelle Cogley (juvenile figures and free); Sheldon Gaylor, Julia Glovack, Emily Morgan (juvenile free) and Nick Schwartz (juvenile men's free).

Dave Frederico's 92-yard kickoff return at the start of overtime led the Lockport Invaders (8-3) to a 13-7 win over the Syracuse Storm (9-2) in the first round of the National Minor League Football playoffs last weekend. A 42-yard interception return by Chuck Mahoney provided the other Lockport score. The Invaders next face Meriden, Conn., for the Northeast championship.
