Gennifer Flowers, the former cabaret singer who almost sank President Clinton's 1992 campaign by alleging they had a secret 12-year extramarital love affair, will be married Saturday.
Finis Shellnut, the groom, is the former brother-in-law of Webster Hubbell, a close personal and political friend of Clinton and a former law partner of Hillary Rodham Clinton at the Rose Law Firm. Hubbell is serving a federal prison sentence for a Whitewater-related theft conviction.
"I will still have my singing career, but I also have my Texas real estate license, and I have a real interest in interior design," Ms. Flowers said. "My priority will be my marriage."
"We just want to settle down and have a good life," Shellnut said. Ms. Flowers and Shellnut said they will live in Dallas, where he is a broker with Prudential Securities.
Shellnut, 46, said this would be his third marriage. Ms. Flowers, believed to be in her late 40s, said it would be her first.
Ms. Flowers created a firestorm during the 1992 New Hampshire primary campaign, when she held a news conference and alleged she had been Clinton's mistress for a dozen years. He denied the charge. Ms. Flowers later appeared nude in Penthouse magazine.
Ms. Flowers, who said she voted for Ross Perot in 1992, said she hasn't decided how she will vote this year. "I have mixed feelings at this point," she said. "I'm very pro-choice, but Bob Dole makes a lot of sense. I want more control over my pocketbook, and I don't like the 'gimme' attitude of Democrats on taxes."
