Marian D. Yates, 74, died Friday (Oct. 25, 1996) in her Town of Tonawanda home after a brief illness.
Born in Newport, Vt., she came to Buffalo as a child. She graduated from Kenmore High School in 1939. She then attended Grove City College in Grove City, Pa.
After raising a family, she went to work in the billing department of Greater Buffalo Press in 1966 and retired in 1986.
Mrs. Yates was an avid bowler, gardener and bridge player.
She was a past officer and member of the Suburban Women of Amherst and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels at Kenmore Mercy Hospital and for the Town of Tonawanda. She also did volunteer work at Niagara Lutheran Home.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Leonard A.; a daughter, Barbara A. Walter; a son, Jeffrey L. Yates of Kenmore; a sister, Mary Carnett of Novi, Mich.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren
Services will be held 4 p.m. Monday in Amigone Funeral Home, 2600 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda.[hakes]
