FIREFIGHTERS GET HANDLE ON TWO NEW WILDFIRES

Cool, slight winds allowed firefighters to get a handle on two wildfires that chased people from their homes in Southern California.

The new fires crackled through brush in San Bernardino and Riverside counties about 60 miles east of Los Angeles on Sunday.

By nightfall, most fires were not a danger to residents.
