Terry Hollinger's unassisted goal in the third period proved to be the game winner as the Rochester Americans held off the Syracuse Crunch for a 4-3 win in the American Hockey League.

Syracuse pulled to within one goal at 18:08 of the third as Lonny Bohonos scored the only power play goal of the night.

Ed Ronan, Dan Frawley scored Rochester's first two goals and Wayne Primeau added his first of the year as the Amerks led 3-1 heading into the third period.

Rochester relied on the strong goaltending of Steve Shields down the stretch when they needed it most as Shields turned back 32 of Syracuse's 35 shots on goal.
