LOCAL CHILD-CARE COALITION WINS UNITED WAY GRANT

The United Way of Buffalo and Erie County has awarded a Community Impact Fund Grant to the Child Care Coalition to train 30 child-care providers, United Way President Robert M. Bennett announced Wednesday.

The 30 trainees will study for a year in the Child Development Associate Professional Preparation Program, which will prepare them to be certified as entry-level educators for preschool children.

A model program, the Child Care Coalition's Child Development Associate Professional Preparation Program is the largest available through the New York State Child Care Resource and Referral Network. It has been endorsed under the United Way's Success by Six initiative, which seeks ways to meet the needs of preschool children.
