LAURA GANTOR THORN, RETIRED ENGLISH TEACHER

Laura Gantor Thorn, 88, a retired Lewiston-Porter High School English teacher, died Saturday (Oct. 12, 1996) in Camino Vista, N.M.

A Youngstown resident for more than 40 years, she moved to New Mexico a year ago to be near her daughter, Diane Hatton of Albuquerque. She taught for 35 years, retiring in 1970.

A native of Auburn, she was a graduate of Buffalo State Teachers College and received a master's degree from Niagara University.

She was a volunteer at Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston for 25 years and a member of Niagara Falls Country Club.

Her husband, George A., died in 1956.

In addition to her daughter, she is survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Second and Hinman streets. Burial will be in Niagara Falls Memorial Park, Lewiston.[pcrrl]
