AD FOR UNITED WAY LEADS AWARDS SHOW

Mitchell DeTine & Partners Inc., Crowley Webb & Associates and Eric Mower & Associates shared the spotlight at the second annual Western New York Awards for Creative Excellence.

Mitchell DeTine captured the best of show award for its public service video about Success by 6, a new child-focused initiative for the United Way.

Crowley Webb & Associates brought home the most awards -- a total of 70, including five golds, 20 silvers and 45 bronzes for its work for clients such as the Buffalo Bills, Independent Health and M&T Bank.

Eric Mower led all agencies with six gold awards and won a total of 43 awards for clients such as the Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo ADI Ford Dealers and Marine Midland Bank.

The awards program marked the second joint show by the Art Directors/Communicators of Buffalo and the Professional Communicators of Western New York. The groups received 887 entries from 96 agencies and companies and gave away a total of 246 awards -- 28 golds, 72 silvers and 146 bronzes. Winning entries were rated by five judges from some of the largest agencies around the country.

In addition to the creative advertising awards, the groups paid tribute to several individuals who have influenced the region's advertising community.

Mike Beato of Beato Enterprises received the David I. Levy Communicator of the Year Award from ProCom.

Caricature artist Philip Burke was named the Osborne/Communicator of the Year, awarded by ADCB.

Kathryn LoPresti of SEV/Sherwin-Greenberg received the Crystal Prism Award for service to ProCom.

ADCB presented its service award to commercial photographer Marc Murphy and Steve James of Steve James Design.
