HASFURTER HIT BEATS QUAKERS

Jason Hasfurter drove home the winning run in the top of the seventh inning as West Seneca East rallied to beat Orchard Park, 2-1, in ECIC Division I baseball Thursday. Hasfurter allowed only two hits in pitching a complete game, striking out six. Don Benker was 3 for 3, including two doubles, and scored a run.

ECIC IV: East Aurora stayed unbeaten with a 7-2 victory over Cleveland Hill. Brad Kenney ran his record to 3-0 with a four-hit complete game.

Niagara-Orleans: Jerry Perkins sparked Roy-Hart to an 11-10 triumph over Albion. Perkins had a homer and five RBIs and got the victory by pitching the final two innings.

Msgr. Martin Assn.: Mike Mohring's two-run double in the fifth inning put St. Joe's ahead for good in a 5-1 victory over Bishop Timon.

CCIAC II: Maple Grove won its fifth game in six starts, outscoring Silver Creek, 12-6. Brian Keefer had a three-run homer for the Red Dragons.

Softball

ECIC IV: Tonya Aquino threw a no-hitter in Cheektowaga's 6-0 victory over Eden. Aquino struck out eight. Kathy Gibbs' two-run single in the second inning put Cheektowaga ahead for good.

ECIC II: Cary Cartonia's five singles and four RBIs powered Williamsville South to a 19-1 decision over Hamburg. Jill Iacono's three hits drove in three runs.

ECIC I: Lancaster needed eight innings to defeat Sweet Home, 3-1. Senior third baseman Sherry Papaj scored the winning run. . . . A four-run outburst in the fourth inning powered West Seneca East to a 4-3 win over Orchard Park. Laura Rudnick threw a three-hitter.

NFL: Eighth-grader Jennifer Sarzyniak had a successful debut in varsity competition in North Tonawanda's 7-0 blanking of Lockport. Sarzyniak threw a one-hitter, striking out five and walking one.

Msgr. Martin: Amy Casianowicz's one-hitter helped Villa Maria post a 20-0 victory over Buffalo Seminary. Jen Zanghi and Missy Gladwell had home runs.

Niagara-Orleans: Albion cruised to its fourth straight win, a 9-2 defeat of Roy-Hart. Bianca Jurs allowed only two hits.

Buffalo Public Schools: South Park won its second game in as many starts, beating Grover Cleveland, 8-7. Shortstop Theresa Markey had two doubles and a single, while pitcher Jennifer Straw struck out five.

CCIAC I: Jamestown's Jessica Barker allowed one hit and struck out 14 in a 10-4 decision over Southwestern. . . . Laurie Bennett had a three-run homer and Alison Boris had a bases-clearing triple for Dunkirk in an 11-4 win over Falconer.
