The finals of the PBA's SplitFire Spark Plug Open are being held down the road in the Erie (Pa.) Civic Center, today, starting at 3 p.m. If you can't make the drive, Channel 7 is televising.
No April Fooling, spring is here for horseplayers. The Finger Lakes Race Track in Canandaigua opens its 1995 thoroughbred season this weekend with racing at 1:15 p.m. today and Sunday. Toronto's Woodbine enters its second weekend of thoroughbred racing with 1 p.m. programs today and Sunday, which are simulcast to the Fort Erie Race Track. And there's harness racing at Buffalo Raceway tonight at 7:30.

The college basketball season wraps up this weekend with the men's Final Four from Seattle and the women's from Minneapolis. The men's semifinals (Oklahoma State vs. UCLA and North Carolina vs. Arkansas) begin at 5:30 p.m. today on Channel 4. The final is Monday at 9 p.m. The women's semifinals (Tennessee vs. Georgia and Connecticut vs. Stanford) start today at noon on Channel 4. The final is Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
The Buffalo Sabres take on the New York Islanders at Uniondale today at 1 p.m. on Channel 29 and Empire cable. The Fox Network (Channel 29) kicks off its NHL regular-season coverage Sunday with the New York Rangers visiting the Philadelphia Flyers. Channel 5 has a Sunday afternoon game (1:30) between the Ottawa Senators and Quebec Nordiques in addition to its Hockey Night in Canada double-header tonight (Montreal at New Jersey, 7:30, and Vancouver at Edmonton, 10:30).
The second game of the Buffalo Blizzard's National Professional Soccer League first-round playoff series against the Crunch in Cleveland is on ESPN2 Sunday at 3 p.m.
Around the dial: ESPN will carry the Jim Beam Stakes, a Kentucky Derby tuneup, today at 4:30 p.m. . . . Italy plays host to the United States in the Davis Cup, and ESPN2 will carry the doubles today at 6 a.m. (repeated by ESPN at noon). . . .
