A Mass of Christian Burial for Loretta McGroder, widow of Patrick J. McGroder Jr., former Buffalo Bills executive vice president, will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 3269 Main St.
The Mass will follow prayers at 10:30 in George J. Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 2400 Main St. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
Mrs. McGroder, who spent her winters in Phoenix, Ariz., died Thursday (March 30, 1995) in a Phoenix hospital. She was 88.
Her late husband was credited with bringing professional football to Buffalo. He served as senior executive vice president of the Bills from their inception in 1960 until his death in 1986. He also had been president of McKinley Liquor Corp.
A native of New York City, Mrs. McGroder grew up there but lived in Buffalo most of her life. She was a graduate of Erasmus Hall High School in New York and Brooklyn College.
In Buffalo, she was a member of Park Country Club, Buffalo Athletic Club and St. Joseph's Church. She was an avid bowler and golfer and had been a championship swimmer.
Mrs. McGroder is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Butler of New York City and Carol Ann MacLeod of South Bend, Ind.; a son, Patrick J. III of Phoenix; a sister, Ethel Paris of New York City; and seven grandchildren.
