Private services for Herbert B. Campbell Sr., 93, a retired auto worker and longtime member of Bethel AME Church, will be held Tuesday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
He died Wednesday (March 29, 1995) in his Buffalo home after months of illness.
Born in Vicksburg, Miss., he moved to Buffalo in 1943 and worked at several different manufacturing companies here.
He began working at the former Chevrolet axle plant on East Delavan Avenue in 1959 and worked as a chipper until his retirement in 1965.
He was a member of the United Auto Workers.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, the former Bertha Watson; five daughters, Velma of Rochester, Ann Smothers, Myrtle Demps, Rosalie Hall and Bertha; a son, Herbert Jr.; a brother, Jeff; a sister, Rosalie Lee of Memphis, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
