General Motors Corp. said Friday it was voluntarily recalling 227,000 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supremes and 1994 and 1995 Buick Regals to inspect rear wheel brake hoses that may have been improperly installed.

GM said it has had no reports of accidents due to the condition. It said, however, that an improperly installed brake hose could contact rear suspension components and eventually wear through, resulting in a loss of brake fluid and eventual loss of one-half of the vehicle's braking system.

Brake hoses found in the incorrect position will be replaced at no charge to the owners, the automaker said.
