ERIE COMMUNITY COLLEGE CAPS TRIP WITH A SPLIT

Erie Community College concluded its spring trip by splitting a doubleheader with Elgin (Ill.) Community College in Fort Myers, Fla.

Sophomore Cory Hover (Kenmore West) had four hits and seven RBIs, and Andy Mammot (Lancaster) pitched a three-hitter in an 11-1 win in the opener. Scott Jusiak added three hits and scored three times.

In the nightcap, Rob Vogtli (Gowanda) had three hits, including a home run, in an 11-7 loss. The Kats (6-5) host Herkimer in the season-opener on Tuesday.

SOFTBALL: Erie CC dropped a doubleheader in the final two games of a spring trip to Orlando. In the first game, Billie Patterson (Jamestown) scored three runs in a 6-5 loss to Harper (Ill.) CC. In the nightcap, Ellie Hanover (Depew) had two hits and scored the only run for the Lady Kats (1-8) in an 11-1 loss to Valencia (Fla.) CC.
