Village of Blasdell officials met Friday night in an attempt to pare down Mayor Jeffry Zimmerman's proposed $2.8 million budget for 1995-96.

The spending plan would increase village taxes to $11.92, a rise of $1 per $1,000 of assessed valuation.

Mayor-elect Ernest Jewett, acting in Zimmerman's absence, joined newly elected Trustee Kathleen Cole and Trustees Robert Krone and Ronald Sporyz in a line-by-line examination of appropriations, including general-fund appropriations of $1.48 million. The spending plan will be presented during a public hearing Wednesday.
