A fire set in a vacant house Friday spread to two neighboring homes, triggering two alarms and leaving one family homeless, a fire dispatcher said.

One unidentified firefighter was hospitalized.

The fire that started at 209 Moselle St., a vacant two-story frame structure, was the work of an arsonist, the dispatcher said. The blaze was reported at 5:59 p.m. It spread to 207 Moselle and 215 Moselle, which were occupied. A second alarm was sounded at 6:06 p.m.

Two firefighters were injured; one was able to remain on duty and the other was taken to Buffalo General Hospital.

The house at 209 Moselle was a total loss, the dispatcher said. Damage to 207 Moselle was estimated at $30,000 and 215 Moselle, $5,000.

Two adults and a child who lived at 207 Moselle were being assisted by the Red Cross.
