Police believe they have solved a series of garage and car break-ins in the Deveaux area with the capture of two teen-agers this morning.
Brandon L. Jacobs, 19, of 4372 Caravelle Drive and a 13-year-old were found hiding under leaves in a wooded area near the Robert Moses Parkway, officers said.
Police were first called at 2:40 a.m. to investigate an attempted burglary of a garage at 4002 Carroll St., where two suspects in dark clothing tried to pry open a garage door and window. Several other cars in the area also had been entered, police said.
About 10 officers combed the Deveaux area until officers almost tripped over the two teens who were lying on the ground covered with leaves, police said. Police said they also are investigating Jacobs in connection with a number of garage break-ins that have occurred in the Deveaux area in the past two months.
Jacobs is charged with third-degree attempted burglary, third-degree criminal trespass, petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. The 13-year-old boy will be dealt with by juvenile authorities, police said.
