This 2-year-old neutered terrier mix named Joey, awaiting adoption at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 205 Ensminger Road, Town of Tonawanda, not only needs a home but maybe a dog psychiatrist, too.

His keepers say he is good with children, which is understandable, and cats, which isn't. He can be taken home for the adoption fee of $65, which includes a rabies vaccination, deworming, a distemper shot, a free physical at a veterinarian of your choice, a collar and tag.

Other animals in need of loving homes are available at the Niagara County SPCA Rainbow Animal Shelter, 2100 Lockport Road, Wheatfield, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Call 731-4368 for information.

Cats and dogs are also available at Adopt-A-Pet shelters throughout the area (call 879-0311) and the Pet Connection Maternity and Special Care Shelter (652-0192). The City Animal Shelter, 1250 Niagara St., has animals in dire need of homes. It's open from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
