A memorial service for Frederick J. Scherber, a retired chemist, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. John Lutheran Church, 420 Lockport St.
Scherber, 69, of Oak Street, died Wednesday (March 29, 1995) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a brief illness.
A native of Niagara Falls, he was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. He served in the Army from 1946 to 1947 and was a chemist for Union Carbide Corp. and then for Elkem Metals in Niagara Falls. He retired in 1983.
Scherber was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Youngstown Volunteer Fire Company and LaSalle Yacht Club.
Survivors include his wife, the former Dorothy Brown; a son, Vincent of Cheektowaga; a daughter, Kathleen Wilson of Niagara Falls; a sister, Audra Braswell of Huntsville, Ala.; and four grandsons.
