BUDGET CUTS HIT HOME FOR THOSE NEEDING HELP

A few comments on the governor's proposal to eliminate long-term home health care and adult-day care programs.

I am 76 years old and paralyzed on the left side due to a stroke. I am unable to dress or bathe myself without assistance. If these programs are eliminated, my quality of life would be nil. I receive home health care and therapy twice weekly.

Should I lose these wonderful care-givers, I would lose what mobility I have left and I would more than likely be unable to stay home with my wife of 53 years. I also believe that if I and people like me have to be placed in a home, the cost of care would be greater.
