A 21-year-old shooting suspect featured in Tuesday's Crime Stopper was tracked down in West Virginia with information provided to the Buffalo Police Felony Fugitive Task Force.
A police spokesman said today that a caller recognized Damion Saulters' photo in the Crime Stopper report and told them he had been arrested late last week in Martinsburg, W.Va., on charges of operating a stolen vehicle.
Buffalo police said they immediately notified West Virginia authorities of the outstanding warrants against Saulters. He is being held in lieu of bail pending extradition. He was wanted in connection with felony assault, grand larceny and robbery charges.
Saulters has reportedly waived extradition proceedings, say police, and should be returned to Buffalo soon for criminal proceedings on the outstanding charges.
Police said Saulters, and another suspect already in custody, are wanted in connection with an incident that occurred March 10 on Glendale Street.
They said Saulters and his accomplice, identified as Willie Brown, 17, of Buffalo, were involved in the shooting of three people and the theft of a vehicle. The identities of the victims, who survived the attack, were withheld by police.
The stolen vehicle was reportedly recovered some time later, and Brown was arrested last week.
