VOTERS OK SCHOOL HEATING PROJECT

Residents of the Gowanda Central School District, in a referendum Wednesday, approved a $550,000 bond issue to rebuild the elementary school heating system. The vote was 170 to 35.

The project will replace the remainder of the building's steam-heating system, installed in 1929, with hot-water baseboard heat. Construction is expected to begin in July, and the system will be operating by Oct. 15.
